Short answer: JoinBrands is a legitimate, well-reviewed UGC marketplace with a huge creator pool, and for a brand buying content for itself it is good value. For an agency it is more expensive than the $499 headline suggests. The white label features sit on the Max plan, Max adds an 8% fee to every creator payment, and that fee grows with each client's content volume while the retainer you quoted them stays flat.

Is JoinBrands legit?
Yes. JoinBrands is an established, real marketplace with a TrustScore of 4.5 out of 5 on Trustpilot, and reviewers mostly praise responsive support and how easy it is to find creators. The recurring complaints are practical rather than alarming: an interface some users find clunky, and creator disputes that are harder to resolve because communication runs through typed messages.
For an agency the legitimacy question is settled. The real question is whether its pricing model fits a business that resells content to clients, which is a different question from whether it works for a brand.
How much does JoinBrands cost?
JoinBrands has four tiers. Free is pay-as-you-go with a 15% platform fee. Start-up costs $99 a month with a 12% fee, JoinBrands Pro costs $299 a month with a 10% fee, and Max costs $499 a month with an 8% fee. Annual billing takes 10% off the plan price. On top of the plan you pay the creator, at a rate you set.
Paid plans return part of the subscription as Roll Over Cash, a monthly credit applied to creator payments: $30 on Start-up, $90 on Pro and $150 on Max. That credit is real money if you spend it, so the fair way to read each plan is subscription minus credit, plus the percentage fee.
| JoinBrands plan | Plan price | Credit back | Net fixed cost | Fee on creator pay | Users |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | $0 | 15% | Not listed |
| Start-up | $99/mo | $30 | $69 | 12% | 1 |
| Pro | $299/mo | $90 | $209 | 10% | 3 |
| Max | $499/mo | $150 | $349 | 8% | 10 |
What is the JoinBrands platform fee?
The JoinBrands platform fee is a percentage added to every creator payment, on top of what the creator earns: 15% on Free, 12% on Start-up, 10% on Pro and 8% on Max. JoinBrands says it covers marketplace access and campaign management. Because it is a percentage, it scales with how much content your clients buy.
Here is what the whole platform line costs at three levels of monthly creator spend, using the net fixed cost above. Creator pay itself is excluded because it is the same on any platform.
| Monthly creator pay | Free | Start-up | Pro | Max |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| $2,000 | $300 | $309 | $409 | $509 |
| $5,000 | $750 | $669 | $709 | $749 |
| $10,000 | $1,500 | $1,269 | $1,209 | $1,149 |
Two things fall out of that table. First, Max only becomes the cheapest JoinBrands plan once creator pay passes about $7,000 a month; below that, the lower tiers cost less. Second, most agencies cannot actually use the cheaper tiers, because Start-up has one user and the white label shareable links are listed only on Max. So the realistic agency price is $349 a month net plus 8% of everything you pay creators.
Does JoinBrands work for agencies?
It does, and it has a dedicated agency offer. Each client gets its own brand profile with separate campaigns, products, content library and billing under one agency login. The agency page describes your logo on dashboards and reports, custom watermarks on deliverables, role-based permissions so account managers only see their brands, and retainer campaigns to keep good creators on recurring client work. A client-facing web address on your own domain is listed there as not yet available.
Where it fits less well is the economics of reselling. Three points are worth checking before you commit a client roster to it.
The fee moves, your retainer does not
Say you sell a client a $4,000 monthly UGC retainer that includes $2,500 of creator pay. On Max, JoinBrands takes $200 of that as its 8% fee. If the client asks for twice the videos next quarter, the fee doubles to $400, and unless you reprice the retainer, that comes straight out of your margin. A flat platform cost does not do this.
Check which tier each white label feature is on
The agency page promotes white label broadly: logo, watermarks, branded reports. The pricing page lists one agency feature, White Label Shareable Links, and puts it on Max only. Before you buy a lower tier on the strength of the agency page, confirm with JoinBrands which of those branding features your plan actually includes.
What the client sees about creator cost
If your margin is the gap between the creator's rate and your client price, the client should never see the creator's rate. Ask for a sample client-facing report and look for creator rates or campaign budgets on it. This applies to every platform you evaluate, including ours.
Is JoinBrands worth it?
JoinBrands is worth it when creator volume and variety are the constraint. Four million creators, TikTok Shop and Amazon video, live selling at $1 a minute, and Spark Ad codes delivered on TikTok campaigns are genuine strengths, and no smaller platform matches that range. If a client needs hundreds of creators a month across unusual niches, the 8% is a reasonable price for reach.
It is less worth it when the constraint is margin and predictability. An agency running a steady four to ten videos a month per client does not need four million creators. It needs a platform cost it can put in a retainer without it moving, clients kept apart, and client documents that do not reveal the wholesale rate.
JoinBrands alternatives for agencies
AgencyUGC is built for that second case. Plans are flat: Starter $49 a month for 3 client workspaces, Plus $149 for 10 with per-client reports and client invoices, Pro $499 for unlimited workspaces with ROI exports and a client status page. No percentage is taken from creator pay, and client-facing reports show your price, not the creator's rate.
| Agency with $5,000 a month of creator pay | Platform cost per month | Platform cost per year |
|---|---|---|
| JoinBrands Max, net of $150 credit | $749 | $8,988 before the annual discount |
| AgencyUGC Plus, up to 10 clients | $149 | $1,788, or $888 billed annually |
| AgencyUGC Pro, unlimited clients | $499 | $5,988, or $2,988 billed annually |
Be clear about what you give up. JoinBrands puts your logo on reports, while AgencyUGC exports are unbranded rather than custom branded. JoinBrands' creator pool is far larger, and its TikTok Shop and Amazon tooling has no equivalent on our side. If those are what your clients pay you for, stay on JoinBrands.
If you are comparing more than one vendor, we have done the same math elsewhere. The white label UGC platform comparison puts JoinBrands, Insense and Vidovo side by side on what an agency can hide from its client. The Insense alternative for agencies covers Insense's $800 Agency plan and 7% fee, and Billo vs Insense for agencies works out the per-video breakeven. Whichever platform you pick, the ROI numbers still have to reach the client in a form they will read, and if your team spends Friday afternoons rebuilding them by hand, it is quicker to turn the exported report into a slide deck than to paste figures into last month's template.
How to test JoinBrands against an alternative in an afternoon
- Take one real client brief from last month, with the platform, content type, niche and budget you actually used.
- Run it on both platforms and compare the creators that come back, not the demo accounts.
- Price your real roster: total monthly creator pay across clients, times the fee, plus the plan net of credits.
- Download a client-facing report from each and check for creator rates and vendor branding.
- Decide on the constraint that binds: creator reach, or a predictable margin.
You can do step two on AgencyUGC without an account: put the brief into the builder at the top of this page and see who matches. All plans and limits are on the pricing page.
